I’m having an affair. I thought you should be the first to know. You’ve likely surmised as much if you follow my social media updates. But I thought I should come clean with my confession here, in a more intimate setting: I’m passionately in love with nature.
“Earth laughs in flowers.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
Like a blossoming relationship (even though mine has been in full swing for decades), I tend to overshare my “dates” with the outdoors. So when it comes to my constant companion, Mamasita Nature, let me count the ways she woos:
Nature can be prickly…
But also has a soft side…
She inspires us to recreate…

Ruben, my tandem paraglider guide, getting our (yes OUR) chute ready for a soar over the Italian Dolomites!
And also contemplate…
It shows off in big ways…
…impressing us with bold and bright colors…
As well as more subtle hues and gifts…
Nature is predator…
And prey…
It’s wildlife…
And wildlife…
Hey, it’s in our nature 😉
We try to fence it in…
But it’s always going to run wild…
She provides…
..and she takes away…

It can be shrouded and shy…
Or flamboyant and uninhibited…
And at the end of the day…
…it’s all around us.
“Forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair.” ~ Khalil Gibran
If you still had any doubts about my love affair with nature, the rapture on my face here indicates a small portion of my commitment to this relationship. Thanks for joining me and I wish you a healthy dose of nature and the outdoors every day!
And the lead photo at the top is just a pretty one I’m sharing. Just because it’s lovely to me. And that’s the moon rising in the sky over a late hike.
