SuuperG

Thank you for visiting my blog about my travels, hikes, random pursuits, random thoughts (oh dear), adventures and misadventures.  My hope is to share more photos, inspiring recipes and luscious music.

I’ve been a low-key unofficial blogger for my friends and family for a few years and now, prompted by some encouragement (OK not MUCH encouragement) from these same friends and even by the community of luuvly Twitter people…I went public. It’s more of a what-the-heck motivation than anything else, and I find writing to be cathartic and empowering and if I have an audience, albeit a small one, I imagine I’ll be more apt to actually write down my thoughts, ponderings, discoveries and travel tips.

I am now a freelance travel writer (yay!) and have had lovely opportunities to share my adventures here and on several travel sites.

Because of my own passion for the powerful network that is Twitter, I’ve learned a thing or 20 in the two years I’ve been tweeting and I offer consulting to get people started or hone their efficiency. (See my favorite Twitter tools here: http://www.gitanablog.com/sales-page/ )

Why Gitana? Well, it’s Spanish for “gypsy” and I have an insatiable wanderlust, I am a dancer – a professional belly dancer and an amateur random jiggler  – and I love everything to do with Spain. It also happens to encompass all the letters of my name.

Some “Me-ness”:

I’m a recovering workaholic…seeking that elusive element called balance.  Since growing and then selling my successful retail boutique to my sister/partner, I’ve been discovering that there is LIFE out there, aside from work and more work. I started this blog to stay in touch with friends while I sample and savor some good bits. So far, I’ve embraced hiking, belly dancing, skiing, cooking, kayaking, some photography, travel (as much as possible!), snow-shoeing, general adventuring, writing, social media-ing, and riding horses whenever I possibly can.

Thanks for checking in with me. Let me know what you do and what inspires you as well. Bliss you!

Some caveats:

1) I adore alliteration – bear with me. I also make up words and spellings…sorry in advance if your spell-check goes haywire!

2) I have a tendency towards playful irreverence…which stems more from a tendency to take things more lightly than a disdain for anyone’s beliefs. I, certainly, don’t have all the answers…if I have stumbled upon one or two – hallelujah!

3) I am very tech-challenged. Please bear with me as I hone my internet/blogging/communication skills along with my writing prowess!

But wait! There’s more (more and more lol)…I more recently compiled this “Me List” if you can stomach it :)

Hi Gina,

Could not help seeing that one of your photos are from Malaga. I live in Malaga and run a holiday rentals company from here. I like the way you write and wanted to explore the possibility of using your skills on our company blogs…if you are interested.

Do you live in Malaga?

Un saludo desde Cerrado de Calderon

I only wish I lived in Malaga :) and I’d love to visit again…my stay was all too brief. I was lucky enough to visit and stroll through the Alcazaba and the Cathedral. Thank you for your generous comment, Claus. Saludos!

Hi Gina!
@ppebble here!
We follow each other on twitter…hope we're going someplace great! I recently started tweetin and love it. Want to take it to the next level.
I am a fitness professional (15 yr veteran personal trainer) and I incorporate vibrational modalities of healing in my practice with my clients. i,e; meditation, yoga, chakra work and bach flower remedies.
All in the name of "seeking the elusive element called balance". Within the balance there is an abundance of health of mind, body and spirit.
I have decided to start a blog, because I am ready to share with who ever will listen, that reading my blog can make their world an extraordinary place. A way to look at their own exercise program or lack there of and revamp it, mold it add some stuff, eliminate others and feel grounded, balanced and good. Any quick tips how to start? and…How do you get your inspiration to write as often as you do?

Greetings Yoli! :) How nice of you to find me here ;) We ARE going great places…I can feel it! I find inspiration in my friends and in my pursuits. So often when I'm hiking or dancing my thoughts turn inward and often they are about bliss and gratitude. Pay attention all around you…watch and listen to people…they say the darndest things! lol Good stuff from which to draw topics ;) I'm using WordPress and I'm very happy with it. I get technical assistance from tech-y friends, though :) Also, I follow bit rebels blog (which I love!) and I think this post may be a nice beginning for you:http://bit.ly/9cuRnB Thanks so much for visiting and for your comments. Cheers! G

Hey Eagle :) I am overwhelmed by your generous reading and comments strewn throughout my blog! Woot! I have a fan ;-) I love your sass, too…at the risk of encouraging MORE of it! :P Nahhh I can handle it and I enjoy your creative ponderings. I'm just a girl with an active mind and mouth who turned to a keyboard to express some of my mental meanderings. Thanks again for your blog love! Cheers and hugs, Gina

Hi Gina! You have a great blog and I love your enthusiasm for travel! I have a client who just launched a new website called Triptrotting.com – it has revolutionized the travel experience by establishing an online community of like-minded travelers and locals, giving travelers a unique travel experience while also providing an opportunity for locals to expand their global footprint and network without ever leaving their city.
I thought this might be something you would be interested in, please let me know if you would like more info! Thanks :)

Hallo Gina, I'm a new followers (tweet friend sound better by the way). I like your blog. I started a new one and hope will be nice as your is (http://blog.sicilylovers.com). I wrote a book of authentic Sicilian recipes handed down to me by my mum, aunts and friends. I understand that you are passionate for food. I'd like to send you a copy of my 101 Sicilian Recipes, if you like. It would be great to know what do you think about it. Cheers.

I love your style girl! One of the more interesting and well written "About Me" pages I have read – these pages tend to be quite difficult to write well.

Hi Ali, thank you so much! Very kind of you to take the time and comment here. I found it difficult to edit and carve down to relevancy. If there are some irrelevant and random bits then that's a reflection of a true me! ;) Are you on Twitter? Would love to stay connected, so let me know. Cheers! Gina
