Disclaimer: This is officially the silliest post I’ve ever done…and it does have competition!  I have now been asked several times by people on Twitter (Paolo Terni, most recently) about the extra “u” I place in so many of my words.  I wish there was an exotic and intriguing explanation, but really…it’s all in an attempt to make it seem like “I meant to do that”.

I shall explain.  I have a friend, Alex Watson, who now happens to be on Twitter ( @watsonguitars – after I cajoled and prodded because he is an amazing talent and craftsman and well, I thought he should be exposed to people with taste 😀 ). Alex is the one who dubbed me “Super G” a few years ago.  I just dismissed his silliness and patted him condescendingly on the head.

skiing-in-a-blizzard

Skiing in a blizzard - suuper!

Then I returned to skiing. Oh…the thrill of downhill speed, reckless careening and risk of limb.  I had forgotten how much I truly reveled in it.  I adopted the moniker so aptly bestowed upon me by Alex, and started signing my emails with it.  I know, I’m such a low-key type person 😉

Then came Twitter.  I started out with an oh-so-creative handle: @GinaStark. I know, I know, I should be running marketing departments.  I felt strangely “exposed” and self-conscious and opted for what I stuupidly considered partial anonymity by going with a nickname.  Pfffft.  People who follow me now know more than they’d ever want to know about me!  But I veer…and so, I wanted @SuperG. Wouldn’t ya know; it was already claimed. Hey, at least it’s another Californian.

So, I added a “u”. I know; so anticlimactic.  But then I started having some fuun on Twitter, adding a “u” here and there and it ended up being the real ice-breaker that warmed people to me and me to those who took the “uu” banner and ran with it.  I fondly recall Trace / @TraceImages and Diana / @AdamsConsulting as some of the first to engage in this word play. I still love them muuchly!

So guud of youu to clarify all this… I thought it was from being suuper and wanting to point the nod of superness back to 'u' and 'u' (as in your lucky readers) in your always-generous fashion 🙂
Rock on…

Have you ever thought that you could save a lot of time by adopting the shortened form of 'Double U' otherwise known as 'W'!! You would only have to hit 1 key instead of 2, with all the time you spend Tweeting that would add up to many hours saved that you could spend hiking.

Thanks for a fun post SWperG 🙂
(You see it works, I am a genius! I am off now to enjoy the time I have saved already)

I didn't notice it at first to be honest. But when I did notice it and the "uu" in your tweets I thought it was a very cool idea. It's funny how things can come to you in an instant, and other times you spend hours contemplating them.
