This wasn’t my idea! I was coerced….I mean cajoled, encouraged and lovingly nudged by the dear and darling Marie Wikle, someone I have recently had the honor and pleasure of getting to know (and love!) on Twitter (moniker @spreadingJOY ) I actually had fun doing this once I got over the initial reluctance. See, I’m shy. 😉 So, deep breath and here goes!

- I was born in L.A. – escaped relatively unscathed
- I’m a procrastinator: but I’ll address that tomorrow
- I’m a wine wimp. I like fruity whites or sangria . I know! I admit it! I am so very unsophisticated << said with clenched teeth and upper crust British accent
- I’m the stoopidest smart person I know.
- I’m an ex-con. Yup. I used to have convictions. I was a vegetarian for 7 years. But I couldn’t stand not savoring the regional foods when I traveled. So I caved. I go for free range organic now. I even tried non-leather for a while. Sighhh….ex-con.
- I’m a lil’ OCD – and trying to use it to my advantage 🙂
- I am married to an amazing, generous, funny man. I don’t advertise this fact because he will be stolen away. lol
- I find balance elusive. The more I seek it, the more it slips mischievously away
- I’m a lil’ irreverent but never disrespectful
- I’m a goofball.(see top picture); but as the stupendously fabulous Anita Nelson (aka @ModelSupplies ) said to me, “Goofs are my favorite kind of balls.” Love.Her.
- I dabble in many things…I’m not great at any one thing but I leave that to others so that I may gaze and listen in awe
- I’m an Insignificantalist (my word, thank you): I may expound on this later but think Carl Sagan
- I’m a recovering workaholic. Perhaps my recovery has been too successful.
- I believe that people who are mean or petty are suffering and deserve sympathy and compassion – after a swift kick in the arse, of course 😉
- I’m a work in progress…more Gary Larson (Far Side Comics) than Michelangelo (no explanation necessary). But I’d say my greatest achievement is in knowing I’m still growing.
LOVES
- I love to sing – not to perform. But it seems the older I get and the more my voice deteriorates, the more I want to sing! I harbor a secret desire to sing back up for a garage band. Dream big! lol
- I love my mom; voluntarily, rather than obligatorily.
- I love taking pictures. I don’t call it photography because that might give the impression I have some skill! I apply what I call “shotgun theory”: Take 1,000s of pictures, and one or two may be redeemable.
- I love languages…even English…pondering origins of words and commonality in all languages.
- I love animals-in my life and in the wild. I like wild people too.
- I love trains. They remind me of traipsing across Europe (from Spain to the Greek Isles and back) one summer, with a duffle bag and a Eurail pass when I was 18. With my dear friend Luisa. Sans itinerary.
- I love cover songs. A delicious blend of the familiar with a new interpretation. The more it veers from the original, the more I am enamored. Some favorite examples:
“Heya” by Outkast (original)
“Heya” by Obadiah Parker (cover)
“Just Like Heaven” by The Cure (original)
“Just Like Heaven” by Katie Melua (cover)
- I love the number 8. Since I was 8. For lots of reasons.
- I adore alliteration
- I love Twitter – in a BIG way – tis a place of seemingly endless goodwill, inspiration and dynamic connecting. What’s not to love? Don’t answer that! 😉
- I love birds. (related to above? lol) All kinds. I find beauty even in the little sparrows hopping at your feet at a cafe. I’m a birder. I have a life list. Every once in a great while, I luck out and snap a decent image.
- I love the familiar, and nostalgia
- I love newness – new experiences, food, people, music, sensations
- I hate contradiction – lol
- I love salads. Every kind. Leafy green cruciferous crunncchh!
- I love my friends and family – in a BIG way – I have many and diverse friends and friendships; some of the greatest, longest lasting blessings in my life. I do pay them to stay on retainer, of course. My sister rocks.
- I love Red Vines licorice – stale. Really! They last so much longer in a suspense film! Poor concessions vendors…I make them squeeze them all for most resistance in a staleness test.
- I love my dog, Paloma to the moon and back. People comment that I love my companion animals like kids, to which I scoff…”They’re better! Pets don’t give you grief!” (Well, except for….grief)
- I love my cat, the Turk, too. Oodles and noodles. A rescue cat. All animals who join Casa Stark are shelter or rescue animals. Period.
- I still maintain the love I have for my beloved pets past
- I love Mike’s Hard Lime somewhatalcoholicbeverage. Sooo refreshing on a warm day…heck, on ANY day!
- I love horses..riding them, watching them, or even kissing on their noses
- I love travel – almost anywhere, anytime. It’s in my blood. Several transfusions and myriad trips later, I am still not cured.
- I love LOVE to dance. Freestyle and especially belly dancing with my troupe. Bliss epitomized.
- I love Café Aroma. There is no other place like it on the entire planet. It’s a bistro, an art gallery, a forum for musicians, dancers, sculptors, poets, and a social club where lunch or dinner is a 4-5 hour affair of catching up with friends and other locals. Run by a modern day Medici – Frank Ferro. Bless him for humoring me and letting me dance my a….ummm my arms off on Fridays!
- I love driving fast. I love anything with an adrenaline rush. I once got 2 speeding tickets in 3 days! Ugh! It’s my music…so mesmerizing.
- I love water. I am a Pisces and my body is drawn to every type of body of water
- I love food – LOTS of types. Love cooking, eating, savoring…
- Because of above, I’m thankful that I love to hike 🙂
- I love reading…but it consumes me as I consume the book…nothing gets done; dishes and laundry pile up, tweets go unanswered… haha
- I love music. I can’t dissect and analyze it, but just as I don’t feel that a frog is made any more beautiful by necropsy, neither do I feel music is enhanced by clinical analysis.
- I love coffee. Cream and Sugar. Nutmeg. Hot.
Things I hate:
I try to avoid this word. I mean I like to use it for, “I HATE when that happens”, but that’s about it
UNLOVES
- Beer – I know I know! It’s darn right unAmurkin. I don’t think everyone tastes what I taste – haha. I’m giving you all the benefit of the doubt and imagining there is something redeemable you taste. 😀
- Sports – OK, I just lost 1,000s of readers. I know! I’m not a “hang with the guys” gal…at least not in this arena…But wait! I have ONE saving grace…I LOVE the Olympics; Winter, Summer, all of it. I mean in a heart pounding, crazy leap-out-of-my-seat-cheering sort of way. It’s kinda sceery, actually.
- I have low tolerance for people with low tolerance. Hmmm you get it, right?
- I have a pet peeve: people who don’t use turn-outs. Especially on my delicious curvy mountain roads…come on! If you wish to go below the speed limit, let the reckless ones pass! Lol
- Tailgaters. Contrary to what the above may imply, I don’t shimmy up to your back end and I don’t like when I’ve got an unwanted visitor on my tail.
- Ingratitude – with so much beauty and abundance surrounding us, and so many gifts presented in so many ways, I think it’s a crime to focus on what’s lacking.
Oh yes, after all that…most significantly: I am mysterious. 😉

Gina – OH my gosh!! YOU had me giggling the entire time you were writing this list the other day! I was thinking a long list – like my 43 items long..LOL…Wow..where to begin!! – at the top!! I love it! YOU are lotsa fun on twitter, and now I know even more. I’m with you on the singing. I loooove to sing, but – the older I get, the worse it gets…and trust me, it’s bad! And the mesmerizing music – [nods] totally agree with you! I was singing once, on the way home from the beach – by myself and ummm.. missed my “turn” by about – – ohhh…an hour! *grinning* but, love it!
Your love for animals is wonderful! I love that, and the LOW tolerance for people with low tolerance ….awesome!
shy – YOU? noooo, never!
I hope you are never cured of your desire to travel, as I’m sure you leave hearts smiling everwhere you go!

@spreadingJOY
Marie, I owe this craziness to YOU! If people like it, then you get kudos! If not…well, I sure ain’t takin’ responsibility! 😉 lol xoxoxo You are just a cyclone of joy and fun and friendship and I’m so happy to have connected with you! We should get together and sing…ermmm…howl together 😀 Haha about missing the turn…but getting in a zone is so important! I, too, hope I am never cured…it’s a sickness I can “tolerate” ;). Thank YOU for everything…for your support, enthusiasm, inspiration, JOY, and your very sweet comments. I have a BIG smile on and it’s a good thing on Earth Day! ((HUUGGGS)) to you, beautiful! G
This young lady is quickly becoming my favorite blogger.

CLONNNKKKKKK <<< that's me; fainting. (thanks Gregory!!!)
Gina, I just loved your list! I can relate on so many points and you made me laugh countless times. Thanks for sharing this! Wenata
Wenata, thank you so very muuchly for your sweet comments! 🙂 I love relating. If I can make someone laugh once a day, then I shall consider myself very accomplished, indeed :). Nice to connect with you here and on Twitter. Have a great weekend!
We’re so thankful to @MAS_is_more and @spreadingJOY for cajoling you into writing this. Almost as thankful as I am for making your acquaintance on Twitter. Wow.
Ex-Con made me snort. ‘Nuff said.
Love “unlove”, and agree with everything except Beer. Coffee is as important to my emotional well-being as air is to my lungs, Beer’s my 2nd most desired beverage; on a hot day, more than lemonade, ice water. I try not to use the word hate as well. My most admired poet/writer/woman, Maja Angelou once said that words have power, and, especially in the case of hateful words, they stick to rooms where they’re used, and she’s refused to stay in rooms that exude that negative energy. Hate can be one of those words.
Don’t worry AT ALL about the sports thing. I think there are more people like you than you might think. I’m more of a fan of the Olympics than your average sports. Plus, I’m a fair-weather local sports “pay-attentioner” (I think I made that word up) not fan. I watch the Superbowl, a couple of football games a year and I like to go to a live baseball game once in a while. I like when the local team wins, but I don’t watch or listen most of the time. I have huge respect for the author Sherman Alexie, but lost some of it when he testified in support of keeping the Seattle Sonics (basketball) in town; it just didn’t seem quite that important. Of course, later I heard a podcast where he talked about the power sports can have for distressed youth, and changed my mind. He climbed back up my like list. You might discover about me, podcasts are HUGE on my entertainment like list, so many more options than TV and radio; they’re more like twitter than radio or TV, flexible, follow what you like (callback to your Twitter Trifles post), listen when you like, while walking, riding, just being outside etc, and there are some amazingly insightful, funny, and fabulous people out there podcasting.
You’re an inspiration, and this is a fascinating introduction to you. Thanks so much for it!!!!
When I stop being “incognito” toward the end of this year, I’m writing one of these, but it will pale in comparison.
I love making people snort! 🙂 Two points for me. Thanks so much for your generous comments and your insights. I, too, love and admire Maya Angelou. I have got to get more into podcasts – I do enjoy them when I sit down and listen! I am suuper glad to hear that I, along with @spreadingJOY and @MAS_is_more have inspired you to eventually write your own list. I think it’s sort of cathartic…no, not like a catheter…lol… Cheers to you and thanks again! G
Oh we have so much in common, but I could never think of so much at once! I LOVE stale red licorice! I’ll eat it ’til my jaws go into spasm! I LOVE traveling as you know or even writing about places other people have been! I can travel vicariously! I love your blogs to pieces, the one about your mom sent me too! I love Twitter my friends and of course, YOU! Thanks for the most excellent sharing! Libby HUGGS

You are the funniest and most adorable person I’ve ever met!!! Thank you Twitter! LOL Thanks for sharing the “mysteriousness” 😉 with your readers. After this long “not-precise” *lol* list describing yourself, one cannot possibly imagine the kind of person you are *gringrin*, but knowing you a bit better now through conversations we had and after reading this (which only confirms what I thought already *big grin*) I can only think of one word that says it all about you… you are: GREAT!!!!
