I could give up Twitter, but I’m not a quitter. 😛

Many of my friends and family would say Twitter is a vice.  Well, so is chocolate, and driving fast and some of life’s other indulgences. All good things can be addictive!

This 140 character forum was new to me when I signed on last October…I made an account and tentatively sent out a first Tweet…I don’t even remember what it was now.  Surely not momentous!  Probably something like: “I ate cereal for breakfast” haha.  No, not really. I’m SURE I had eaten something more exciting, like penne and eggs. *wink*

I confess I have become a bit Twitter obsessed. Can you blame me?  Where else can you find free tips on weight loss, hair removal or addition, teeth whitening and how-to-make-money-doing-absolutely-nothing?!  In addition to all of these useful (ahem) resources, I am exposed to new music, new cultures, new outlooks, new gadgets, new artists, new adventures, new writers, new people and, well… news! Actually, the list is endless.

Twitter has changed the way I navigate the web. Heck, it’s changing the way I navigate my life. My husband and I sit beside each other at our favorite café and I tweet and blog (can you believe these new verbs?) while he “surfs”.  Where once my blog was purely private and for my “intimate” circle, I am now motivated – as is evidenced by your reading this – to put it out there for whomever. I’d say I adopted this spirit of what-the-heck-ness through the Twitter experience.  There’s a big world out there, made all the more accessible by social media.

You cultivate your own Twitter experience.  Maybe I’ve been lucky so far, in that my experience has been very heartening…in that I have discovered that there is a vast amount of supportive, inspiring, witty, talented, thoughtful, generous, sincere, and even loving people out there…all happy to connect and empower others in this grand dance.  Or, by discovering and following certain people whose offerings resonate with me, I have created this stellar experience for myself; a love-fest of mutual admiration, shared laughs, “Boomerang Love” and encouragement, regardless of luck. What have I been encouraged and inspired to do? Making my blog public, for one. Why not. I like the new ideal of “transparency” for business, so I’m embracing it for myself personally, too.

Twitter is an amazing platform for this mutual sharing experience.  I am tapping in to the boundless energy of creating and supporting that is out there, and I’m jazzed…and yes, a little addicted (tapping my veins). Am I blowing this out of proportion? Maybe. But I like these proportions 🙂
